The Challenge of Capital Formation in Liability TransfersStimulating Investment in Brownfields
Eckardt C. Beck, Managing Partner at Synapse, organized and chaired a panel of professionals and leaders in the Brownfield industry to present testimony to the CT Governors Brownfields Task Force on November 19th.
The purpose of the panel testimony was to provide insight into the various disciplines behind successful brownfield development - including insurance and financial capital formation, the use of not-for-profit redevelopment corporations, and tax and other incentives utilized in New York and other states. Recommendations for modifications to Connecticut's environmental and Brownfield programs were set forth and illustrated through the panel discussions.
The distinguished panel included: Joseph Boren (Chairman and CEO, AIG Environmental); Kevin Matthews (Vice President Intergovernmental Affairs, AIG Environmental); Joseph Cotter (President, National Re/Sources); Joseph Savage (Vice President, Webster National Bank); Richard Pertz (Executive Director, Universal Brownfield Revitalization Corporation (UBRC); Phillip Bousquet, Esq. (Green & Seifter Attorneys, PLLC); and Vita DeMarchi (Managing Partner, Synapse Partners).
